Descendentes (2012) explores the theme of personal identity in the wider context of family and immigration. In the 19th century, Luxembourgish immigrants travelled to Brazil to escape poverty and famine at home, carving out an existence in a culture they knew little about. Today, European influences are still prevalent in Southern Brazil. Some dream of returning to the country of their ancestors, driven by a sense of adventure and nostalgia.
The series was made possible with the support of Luxembourg's Centre national de l'audiovisuel (CNA).
